Guidance Sessions

work
At #teamsbe, everything revolves around collaboration: everyone has something to learn from each other. We carry this philosophy into the SBE Student Challenge as well. To optimally support the teams during the design assignment, two guidance sessions were organized for the students. During these sessions, they could pitch their ideas and designs to our experts and ask them as many questions as they wanted.

These sessions took place on Friday, March 25, and Wednesday, April 13. On these days, the students had the opportunity to reserve a time slot for an individual guidance session per team. Two teams gladly took advantage of this opportunity!

The first session was held digitally via Teams. During this session, the bridge design was reviewed by several SBE experts—Ken Schotte, An Schoenmaekers, Pieter De Blende, and Ronan Pieters. Various points of attention were discussed in detail, and tips were provided to further improve their design. In addition, the students asked targeted questions regarding the project’s constraints and the further development of the assignment.

For the second session, students could choose to come to the SBE office in Sint-Niklaas or meet again via Teams. One team visited our office, brought out their sketchbooks, and presented some printed versions of their design. The further refinement of their concept was discussed with our #expertsatplay, and the students received some final points to optimize their final design. Before heading home, they were also given a short tour of our office. Another team opted for a digital guidance session, during which the first draft of their public space design on the parcels acquired by the city of Sint-Niklaas was reviewed.

With these sessions completed, the final sprint toward submitting the final designs can begin.

We are already looking forward to seeing the end results!
