A great start to the third edition | SBE Student Challenge

Today, the moment had finally arrived: the first workshop of the third edition of our SBE Student Challenge! As with previous editions, a project that SBE has already worked on was selected: ‘Pont Capitte’ in La Louvière. But how did this first workshop day unfold?

The #studentsatplay started this first workshop day with great enthusiasm.

Before diving into the hands-on work, they were first immersed in the design brief. Additionally, two inspiring lectures were delivered by our own #expertsatplay, Guillaume Van Parys and Benjamin Claeys:

The first lecture focused on the urban planning aspects of bridge design.
The second lecture highlighted the importance of sustainability as a design tool, using our internally developed SPIRIT tool.

Afterwards, it was finally time to roll up their sleeves: keeping these tips and insights in mind, they transformed their ideas into their first design concepts.

And just like that, the first successful workshop was behind them! We are already looking forward to the next workshop, where their designs will be further developed.
